If you shoot it, they will come
Finally got the inking done on a strip that
ealadubh requested. That his centaur , Avery Tarquin get his first time behind a gun, preferably skeet shooting.
Handed an over and under shotgun, its best to let him squeeze off a couple rounds to get the feel of the noise and recoil.
Some folks take it in stride, some are shocked at the power behind the recoil, others...well, really really LIKE it...a lot.

There's a decidedly 'Sagittarius' quirk about the idea of a present-day centaur with a shotgun; it just seems like a natural fit. I imagine Avery would have quite a knack for skeet shooting and take to it as a hobby, with a keen aim up to competition standard. Lord knows the guy is in bad need of a release valve.
Don't expect him to want to actually own one, though. His life is complicated enough in his own series as it is, and prone to misjudgement and mishap over things that aren't his fault when he tries to fit in. He definitely would be wary around tempting fate with anything that could draw blood.

Sorry to hear that. Arthur ruined my guitar playing so I understand.
It is described as focus without concentration. The panacea to target panic. Centered, relaxed, focused. The Zone can also come from writing, or art. Rabbi has doubtless felt it. You start drawing and somehow the time slips away. You're tired, but satisfied at the end.
Any pursuit that is largely mental in nature. And yes, shooting, gun or bow is a mental game.

Funny you should say that -- I've always referred to going to the gun range as "loud Zen."
It works better when someone next to you isn't using a short-barreled shotgun with a massive muzzle brake, though. You can feel that with your bones. Also, the sheer brisance of it, even if you didn't have a flinch beforehand, you will afterwords.
But yes, gun handling is one of the most mindful, deliberate, and even meditative activities I've ever experienced. Which is definitely the right headspace to be in when you're handling something that dangerous, you'd better damn well pay attention.

I worked in a place with a big press. I jumped every time it hit, I' knew it was going to hit. The guy with the shotgun ad the indoor range. Disruptive.
Mindful is the only way to handle any weapon. Arrows will kill you just as dead.
The "Zen" is the very nature of mental activity.
