It had been a bit of time as the would be captor was stuck, pondering on what to do to escape. Xenia nearly doze off as the young puppy rested on her lap, as this playtime was way out of something she wanted to do. Perhaps longer than she realized, as she heard a familiar voice and a door opening
"Xenia, am back!"
There was no mistaking it, it was her friend Chinook, Xenia fully alert now, and with no hesitation snapped free of her bonds, launching the young pup that rested on her lap into the air and with one swift move of her hand.
THWACK!!
A Single blow was dealt on the poor puppy's head. A small whine and now dazed puppy rested against the floor, whereas Xenia clutching fiercely onto the newspaper her go to weapon of choice. As she noticed a large swelling bump on his head, she thought to herself she may have hit him just a tad too hard. The moment that seemed to last a lifetime, ended in a few short seconds before Chinook found herself inside.
"Heya! you made it! glad to..."
Chinook's voice trailed off as she saw the sight of the puppy twitching slightly from the blow
"Oh no!! Cro! Are you ok?! What happened?!"
Chinook shouted as she picked up the injured pup, Xenia sat up frantically now trying to make up a lie.
"He... uh.. we.. We were playing tug of war! Ye-yeah! Tug of war... I, um, I mean, he got to excited and bumped his head on the table! y-yeah "
Xenia forced a smile on her face, as she kicked the rope away from her, still less than thrilled what happened, as Chinook now cradling the puppy in her arms and giving a light kiss on his bump, giving him all the attention as he still seemed dazed from the blow.
"He did? You silly dog! You have to be more careful!"
Chinook's tone, now seeming a bit lighter rather than distraught from earlier. Xenia had a sigh of relief even she was uncertain that lie was going to work.
"Ye-yeah... dumb dog."
She looked at the puppy newspaper in hand still, but for a brief moment, she could have sworn as Chinook tended to his wound, he winked at her.
"That slick bastard..."
Xenia muttered under her breath. But before Xenia could react on how to make another 'accident' happen, Chinook chimed in.
"Well am glad you both are alright! Well now that you're here, want to get a drink?"
"I'm fine Chinny, thanks... in fact, I think I'll just go, see if anything happened at the bar... Been a while since I've hanged with Tony"
"awww, okay tell him I said hello ok? And the chibi pup too!"
"Yeah... I will"
Xenia found herself saying that through her teeth, still having a death-grip on the newspaper that Chinook failed to noticed as she catered to the pup. As she headed her way out, Chinook followed her to the door.
"Take care Xenia! hope to see you again soon!"
Xenia was hesitant at first, but turned to wave back giving a small smile as she could see Chinook using the puppy's paw to wave farewell, despite him having the bump on his head. Xenia could see a rather smug look on the puppy's face as she left. She found herself muttering.
"That damn dog is a real gem indeed..."
