if you check out my last journal

you'll know I'm looking for a much needed change of pace from super busy and stressful life to a much needed slower paced life. I don't really consider the change of career to be a pivotal step for this largely because it's practically guaranteed at this point.
My car however. as you can see here

I had a Jeep that I kept modding and killed my gas mileage more and more with every mod added, except for the stickers, everyone knows every sticker adds 15 horsepower. but my mpg went from 24 to around 16 and I was filling up every 180 to 200 miles because of it's 12 gallon tank. and TONS of crap started going wrong with it so I got rid of the damn thing.
In comes the KIA Niro hybrid. roughly the same storage capacity, same hauling weight specs and an 11 gallon gas tank with 46mpg so 1 tank will get roughly 506 miles. in theory I could get from my house in Florida to my mothers house in North Carolina, roughly 490 miles away, in 1 tank of gas and I'm planning on putting that to the test, just not sure when. I'll have to schedule rest stops though as my previous rest stops used to be planned with the gas tank being empty lol.
and keep in mind this is after years and YEARS of saying I'll never own a KIA OR a hybrid, now I have both lol

the biggest step though is getting the money together to get a house and move, this was only a slight hiccup in comparison to that.
I am going to be doing insurance work for natural disasters. Sadly when everyone is cringing when a natural disaster happens I'm gonna be going "YAY I get work!" But what I'm getting into isnt the bad side you always hear about and denying claims. I'm gonna be one of the people finding all the loopholes to help out as much as possible and get people as much money as I can.

Congrats on the new car! It looks kinda familiar... oh yeah, I have one too!

After a year, I'm still happy with it, averaging 54-56 mpg. If you're light on the pedal you can get it up to 35 mph on electric alone or coast on electric at 65. It eliminated an entire stop on my trip to Megaplex this year. I also like that it's a normal looking car with normal climate/radio buttons, most passengers don't realize it's a hybrid until they discover the little "ECO/HYBRID" badge on the dash.
Streaming music from your phone (Apple Music, Spotify, iHeartRadio, etc) via Apple Carplay/Android Auto is far superior in audio quality versus the built-in satellite radio. If you've got the data plan to support streaming, that's the way to go.
Two minor complaints: the DCT will occasionally get confused when you creep-brake-creep on an incline; and sometimes it does a ham-handed handoff between regen & physical braking. You'll get used to these, but I've had the occasional passenger whine.
Have fun and enjoy the ride!

Thank you ^_^
I hadn't even heard of the Nero until literally the day before I bought mine but thanks to YouTube I found out absolutely everything I ever wanted to know about it and I guess that scared the salesman I got, he kept wanting to show me a Soul or a Sportage, insisting they were better cars, later found out he would have gotten a bonus if he steered me into one of them. He actually got pretty pissed when I kept insisting I wanted to look at the car I made the appointment to see. But having worked at multiple car dealerships previously I kept calling them out on BS tactics and slipping hints to other customers when he walked away. they ended up almost fully paying off my Jeep just to get me to shut up lol. Renegade that was only worth maybe 16K they ended up giving me 27K for it, the payoff was just over 28 lmao.... anywho, got off topic lol
I'm pretty happy with it even though I've only added about 15 miles to it so far. And i got the S Touring model so unfortunately, somehow, different colored roof rails and a GPS antenna took the estimated MPG down to 46 from 51, not exactly sure how that happens. As for streaming music from my phone, I'm always somewhere that I have wi-fi so I don't have an unlimited data plan but I love XM, mostly due to the lack of commercials. But when I can't find anything good on (occasionally it'll happen) my backup is a 64gb USB drive loaded with lots of musics ^_^
so far my only gripe is the half assed hand off from the electric to gas motors when first starting from a stop. A LOT of YouTubers said it was a lag in the transmission but it's the car trying to figure out the handoff but I figured out a workaround, use the auto stick in sport mode, it kicks on the gas motor when you throw it into sport mode.
but I guess the biggest thing I like about it is that it has no stupid and outlandish designs to it like every other hybrid out there, it's stealth the only thing that gives it away is the little badges on the dash and hatch. That and I might not have to stop for gas when going to the North Carolina mountains, maybe, I might have to add $5 when I get close but thats a hell of a lot better then the 3 gas stops I had to make with my Jeep
