Never knew much about the original Dr. because the american edit for Godzilla barely gave him any screen time, that whole movie just caries a load of shame over its head for treating Japan's biggest political mouthpiece as disposable Saturday night monster flick garbage, it's no wonder why I don't know much about the original Serizawa. After doing a little research for myself he's such an incredible character that is debatebly scarier than Godzilla, or at least his research is, maybe once I actually sit down and watch the original 1954 Gojira I can then appreciate everything about him.

The 2019 Serizawa feels like wasted potential but there's a lot of stuff that feels wasted with the Legendary films, his role as a mouth piece for the monsters and their necessary existence is one note and comes off as preachy and tree huggger-ish but the moments leading up to his death were actually pretty well done.

How I would have changed him goes beyond him and involves changing 2014 Godzilla to be a film with more focus on Godzilla and more development of Bryan Cranston's character along with Serizawa because not for nothing Godzilla is just there in the 2014 film with no build up, origin or anything, I don't hate the 2014 film but I would definitely change some things.
