In ancient Egypt, Sephnet's kind, the venomous snakes are playing a role of outcasts. Rarely, they can be found executing an occupation of higher reputation like writers, physicians or viziers. Degraded to farmers, craftsmen or constructors living excluded in the outer parts of the Egyptian empire, there is still one who made it to become a high priest; Sephnet. The extraordinary understanding of the ancient language of uncertain origin and her unquestionable affinity for learning the rites of the gods were the carrying traits of her acceptance as priest of her temple. She'd have the privilege to serve one of the most despised gods; Apophis or Apep, a god of darkness, chaos and enemy to the daughter of the beloved Re. But being the god of her kind, Sephnet wouldn't be less committed to please her god, keeping his temple clean and hopefully preventing a dark fate to overcome Egypt. If the darkest of times would ever arrive, so she knew; everyone would blame her and the outcast serpents.

But having a lot of time and nearly nobody watching over her, Sephnet became most intrigued by the dark forbidden secrets... She would read in several books of the dead, find manuscripts and documents that would recite the fates of those prepared for the afterlife and more and more, a thought would sprout and grow… the thought of asking her god… to return someone.

Apophis has been slain again and again in the stories but always returned to the living to prevent the sun to rise on the horizon. Suppressed by Horus and subjugated by Ra, Sephnet sees the opportunity to weaken their powers by stealing either of their artefacts; Staff and Circlet. The Ankh would allow a soul to return to its body and be filled with life again.
