Sorry I haven't posted anything in forever! I've been... Running on empty, a little, But the last few days I've been hyper-inspired to draw, so hopefully that stick around.
Anyways, I've been on a mythology kick... Today I tried my hand at sprite art; this is blown up 3 times it's size so you can actually see it.
This is a Sisiutl, a type of haida... uhh... Well, sort of a dragon-like creature: They're powerful, enormous horned serpents with magical powers, shapeshifting abilities, multiple heads and voracious appetites. They have a a petrifying gaze like a baskilisk (Sort of - like most creatures with a petrifying gaze it varies between "Kills by presence," "Deadly Poison" and "Turns creatures to stone) and can bestow magic and wealth to others. Also like a dragon, they occupy a special place in magic and in iconography in the local area, and are known to be cool mounts for a deserving warrior - Albeit, when Sisiutl becomes a mount he transforms into a war canoe.
How benevolent or hostile they are, as well as their particular powers, varies by the story and region; the central human head is not universal either. Aside from the obviously strange central head, the two heads of a Sisiutl are on opposite ends of the same serpent.
So overall, my knowledge of this thing is pretty vague, but I think they're cool and wanted to try a bit of an unorthodox look for one
