This past summer I've had frequent moments of insomnia, and in those moments often find myself remembering certain things that make me anxious. A few years ago, I felt really independent and in control, yet over time, I've realised just how much evil there is in the world, consciously or not, that impedes the progress of myself and others.

Synthwave often focuses on nostalgia and good memories, this kind of turns it on its head - it's not always pleasant to be focused on the past especially if the memories were bad ones or if you're nostalgic due to wishing things had not gone the way they did. Either way, I long for positive change to happen that will make me focus on the here and now, and not what has been.

You could call this a work in progress, I feel that a verse or two more might improve it, though I like it enough in its present state I felt it ought to go up (as I tend to overproduce things if they get too old).
