This is something I finally had a chance to test. Scale mail chainmail made with leather scales. I used a laser cutter to cut out the scales (one of the benefits of being an architecture student), and they're linked with rings just like the other scale mail stuff I've done.
The stuff smells like burning cow skin when you're doing it. Hopefully the smell will dissipate.
I should come up with something to do this for. This was really just a test to see if it would work, but now I kind of want to use them on a larger project.

I do not yet. This was just a piece of leather I had lying around my room, and decided to test. I plan to find a supplier of leather to test out other types, and I'll make something bigger to see if it's actually going to be feasible. Only once I've done those will I say I'm ready for commissions.
This was a first test. I wouldn't sell anything until I've tested it enough to determine that it won't fall apart on someone.
