So if you haven't noticed, there is a large number of these strange symbiotic critters running around called Succubats & Cherubees. They will actively look for hosts to help build their respective hives, even if it means fighting over the same potential host. Unfortunately for these two, since Inktail is plush and therefore has no central nervous system to latch onto, he is immune to bonding.
