Selena has met slimes before and even tried to from bonds with them. But she hasn't had any luck in the past. Until she met Gella that is.
Gella took a liking to the seraph very quickly, mostly because she wasn't afraid of her and was open to the idea of being friends. She was frilled to finally making her first friend ever.

It didn't take long for this friendship to began to deepen to the point where Selena made her the offer to deepen their bond even further and become one of her companions.

She barely got to finish explaining it as Gella was more than happy to become one and gave her a big hug.
