The end result of Tuesday night's RooCam session: A sketch of Myra (Foxworthy) from Disney's TaleSpin. This drawing will be part of a DVD menu I'm working on. There are two other characters from the series, and some background art, that will be included in the final drawing. Stay tuned...

Heh -- I wish!
Though, in a way, you're right. I'm putting together a personal DVD collection of TaleSpin episodes that weren't included in the "official" DVD releases, along with some odds 'n' ends and extras I collected (including the original broadcast of "The Incredible Shrinking Molly" -- complete with several very obvious animation flaws).

Just went thru the listings for the two box sets on Netflix - 'Her Chance to Dream,' my favorite TS episode isn't on either one; any chance that one'll be on your DVD?
For those who aren't familiar with that episode, it's a retelling of of the 'Flying Dutchman' legend - Rebeca falls in love with a dashing sea captain who turns out to be a ghost, and is tempted to leave her life and her daughter behind to be with him. A lot of heartbreak and real emotion in the episode, probably the most deeply felt of the series.
A few weeks ago I came across a TaleSpin VHS tape in a thrift store that included the episode. I took it home, put it in the machine - and the tape inside the box was actually a pair of 'Duck Tales' episodes - in French!

"Her Chance to Dream" is also one of my favorite episodes, and it is on the first volume of the DVD set released by Disney (I know because I own both sets -- Nexflix isn't necessarily an authoritative source on these matters :) ). If I'm not mistaken, that was Keith "Goliath/Doctor Facilier" David who did a superb job as the voice of the ghost captain.
Disney has released the first 52 episodes of the series, more or less in broadcast order. The last 13 episodes have yet to be released, including "Road to Macadamia" (another favorite) and "Flying Dupes" (the "banned" episode). All 13 of these "lost" episodes will be included on my special DVD (which I must mention, for legal reasons, will be for my "personal use" only).
I hope you didn't pay too much for that VHS!

Maybe I did - it set me back all of 25 cents...
Don't be too quick to put down Netflix; it was in their episode listing after all, right in the middle of the 2nd disc of volume 1 (all one can say is 'd'oh!' and the disc is now in my queue)...
- and why exactly is "Flying Dupes" banned?

No put-down of Netflix intended (I've been a subscriber for almost five years), but I have spotted errors on some of their listings in the past.
Regarding Tale Spin episode 65, "Flying Dupes": Baloo is assigned to deliver a birthday gift to the Thembrian High Marshall. What he doesn't know is that the "gift" is actually a bomb planted by a Thembrian dissident. Predictable hilarity ensues as the crew of the Sea Duck tries to retrieve the package before it is too late.
"Flying Dupes" was removed from syndication after its initial broadcast, supposedly because Disney was worried about the "terrorist" theme of the episode.
Another episode, #32, "Last Horizons," was also taken out of syndication because the company was worried that the Asian panda bears featured in the story might be viewed as racist. This episode was, however, included in Volume 2 of the Tale Spin DVD box sets.
A minor correction to my previous note: Disney has released the first 54 (not 52) Tale Spin episodes. The fate of the remaining 11 episodes (which include some of the better ones like "Road to Macadamia," "Incredible Shrinking Molly" and "Bygones," along with the aforementioned "Flying Dupes"), as well as why Disney decided to leave them out, is unknown.
Also not included on the DVD sets is the uncut version of "Plunder and Lightning." Luckily, I still have the copy I recorded in 1990 and it will be included on my personal Tale Spin DVD collection.
BTW, if you have any other "questions" about this DVD, feel free to IM/PM me. ;)

Actually, Captain William Stansbury is voiced by Peter Renaday, who's best known for playing Splinter in the original Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles cartoon and Mandrake the Magician in Defenders of the Earth: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Peter_Renaday
