Scarads or as the the people call them, The Thorned Terrors are most known for their obnoxiously dangerous behavior. They expertly blend in with their environment, leaving anyone traversing it constantly on edge. They hide and patiently wait for the victim to approach. Scarads easily cling onto their victim with the barbed appendages, refusing them of escape and then finish the job.
The creatures are known for their monogamous nature, and sometimes even romanticized in their devotion to their mate. They're most often seen traveling in pairs, and sometimes with their children. Any offspring sticks around until they find a mate of their own, unless unsuccessful in which case they stick around for so long as to be seen as competition by the parents who then scare it off or even kill it if it persists.
After only a year the cub reaches full adult size, able to join its parents on hunts, and in another year it reaches the adulthood to search out its own mate. It's hard to distinctly tell its maturity other than by the size of its side spiked protrusions. They usually live up to 30 years, the eldest often sporting large side, tail and facial spikes. There are some cases of Scarads living up to 40 and even 50. It has not yet been discovered how long their bodies would physically last, as the cause of death is always either from dangerous hunts, or their own overgrown spikes hindering their ability of existence. E.g Side spikes growing so long as to block proper leg movement; facial spikes blocking proper vision; facial spikes locking the jaw from properly functioning.
