Ephalon - Divine artefact - Ring of Aodia
Among Ephalonians there's an agreed upon belief, that the world came into existence after the emergence of the six Gods of Creation, two dragons, two Cenebrians, and two Ancients.
At some point in history each of these beings wielded an artefact of immense power. No one knows where these items came from, but their existence can no longer be questioned as of the Fifth Era.
Due to this item not yet being featured in the currently available Ephalon books, I'll keep information about it to a general level.
The Ring of Aodia is the most inconspicuous item amongst the six divine artefacts; due to the simple fact that it's so small. The only distinctive feature about it is the chromatic black coloured gemstone. Much like the Orb of Numer-Nier very little is known about it. The people from northern continent of Aodia have always been very reclusive, never a bunch to venture far beyond their borders. As a consequence of this behaviour, their history has been the least written about.
From what little information is available, the rumours go as follows: the power granted by the ring stems from the fact that there is supposed to be a miniature star trapped within the jewel. The incredible energy created by this is harnessed through the strange material the item is made out of.
The abilities this artefact grants are not of an offense nature, rather they are intended to support fellow sentients. Wearers of the ring, can, in theory, heal any physical wound, but there's even more; any mental trauma can be cured as well. How it is able to do this is an absolute mystery. Even still, there is one final whisper of hearsay which had led to many an individual seeking this item out. The ability to soothe the soul. What would this allow exactly? If one were to die with a soothed soul, one could not only pass on to the afterlife, but immediately venture even further to a state known as ascension.
Only pure female Cenebrians can utilise this item, as is similar with the restrictions on all divine artefacts.
The ring is involved in someway in final future-arc trilogy of the Ephalon book series, which I'll start writing in January of 2020.
This is part 5 of a 7 image set that I'll be uploading over the coming days. Enjoy!

*chuckles* Sorry for saying, but I simply have to: It's the Jesus Ring?
No, really. Imagine what it possibly does: It heals wounds and mental trauma and even purifies the soul. If one would have this ring, they would gain a large following, and user of the ring would become Queen of this nation. She could cure everyone, and promise a higher form of afterlife to the most dedicated servants of Her throne! I mean, She could give suicide quests where most the adventurers would die off, but they would do it gladly, because their souls wouldn't go to Hell, but yet into a higher form of existence. This Suicide Squad would be also good for criminals as their redemption quest, as if they die, their soul would still get the reward, and if they succeed, then they could be free and start a new honest life, since their souls are somewhat purified...This ring is a Queen-maker/Kingdom-maker!!!!

Don't forget, using the ring comes at a price. Your lifespan is reduced with each usage, and unlike dragons Cenebrians aren't known to live for thousands upon thousands of years.
But you are right, and you hit on a particular aspect of the story which I will be using it for. The cult following for the ring. But even more restrictive is the pure blood Cenebrian female requirement. There won't be too many of those around anymore during the 6th Era when it's found.
