The drums beat, the sails roll up, the rowers push forwards. There's a shout, and the warhorns blow loud to signal their attack. Without need of docks, the shallow longships push against the rocky beaches and warriors jump over the sides, advancing on the small town...

They enter, peacefully, into the village. These warriors, these Víkingr, are not the bloodthirsty savages the Christianized towns made them out to be. Trading goods from their home and plunder from their enemies, the armed men and women count another day of good trading before returning to a small island to camp, one shallow enough that their enemies cannot follow in larger ships.

At the helm of this fleet is Hårik, son of Sigurðr, called Burned-Tusk; Hirdman of a noble, professional soldier, and commander of these ships by the grace of his Jarl. Hårik follows the god Freyr, brother of Freya, and representative of the Vanir in the halls of the Aesir. A beast of a man, at 5'8" he's tall for a Norseman, and taller still than a Saxon or Friesan. Hårik is a skilled trader, a fearsome warrior, and a force to be reckoned with.
