Blood should look a lot more liquid. This looks more like the consistency of some kind of slime or thick oil.

Well, don't forget blood is a liquid, so maybe make it a little less opaque, to give it more of a fluid texture.

Its very thick blood, like some tissue 'n' stuff got caught up in it.

It looks more like red sealling wax, and a consistency thicker and less viscus than blood. I think it may look better if you move the highlights closer to the edge, and making the brighter coloured red ring, darker. So it appears flatter and more blood-like. Or well fresher, I think blood would appear that thick once it's congealing but it would still be darker. (Oxygenated blood is deep red.)

Also the blood spray to the side, well the actual flow of the blood looks weird, my limited experiance with blood patterns, is from a blood spatter analysis lecture. ^.^ So I don't know how to make it look natural.
