the first suit i ever made followed much of this tutorial for the head here: http://werevarmint.timduru.org/wvtoasthed.htm. this suit, in particular, involves the use of a balaclava (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Balaclava_%28clothing%29), then attaching carved pieces of foam for the muzzle and cheeks, then applying the fur as necessary. i'd suggest trying to find a bunch of different tutorials online and seeing which one would suit your style the best.
Cool, thx man! I'm working on a plastic canvas base head right now, but I've heard quite a few who favor the balaclava method. I gotta snag me a 3pk so I can give that a whirl. Would be nice to have one for suiting, regardless. I will check those links out and add 'em to my copious collection of fursuit tutorial bookmarks. :)
