You're thinking of the Original "Scooby-Doo On Zombie Island", the first (And Best) of the 2000's Scooby Doo (direct to DvD) movies.

Return to Zombie Island... haven't seen anything but trailers but what I picked up is that there is going to be a Movie Shoot on Zombie Island, that may or may not be the 2001 Original Movie or a in universe satire of it.

I get the depressing feeling that Return is going to be more Comedy then the perfect mix of Horror/comedy the original was... probably will still be at least one real Werecat though.

So, actually watching it, it's an in universe retcon (Daphne wasn't actually an adult with a successful show, it was a school project at a studio instead, but it looks like the gist of the events of the original movie occurred, and the Estate was being run as a resort/hotel... which actually would explain the tourist Zombies in the Original). {All real supernatural events from the prior movies, INCLUDING Reluctant Werewolf, are filed by Velma under "Unsolved".}

First half has a forced problem of the Team promising Shaggy and Scooby not to solve any mysteries, like why the Mystery Machine which Fred had to Sell was on the Island, why someone went to the trouble of disguising Moonscar Island as Moonstar Island and hiring actors to basically reprise the other people who were there (It is a movie).

Second half is them being suckered into finishing the movie (and the Mystery Machine was replaced by the producer with a monster truck/van owned by Fred's Stunt Double).

Basically, a Werecat's real (Three others are fake) and is after the producer, the fakes are after Simone's pendent thinking it's the key to Moonscar's Treasure (it isn't), but the people who brought them there just wanted to recreate what happened to exploit it for a movie. (And Velma is in Such Denial! Which would explain the above happening.)

But yeah, tamer, more comedy, less life or death stakes.

Great work here; I’ve been tinkering with a few fan fiction ideas where Velma as well as Daphne and Fred become werecats.

I might have to post them here... if I ever get the stories finished :)
