Kind of reminds me of the Island of Dr. Ned mod for Boarderlands. Even in the SAFE areas you have zombies and killer birds randomly popping up behind you without you knowing until you're either hit or swamped. And their boomer's do just that, explode pretty much taking half to 3/4 of your health. Plus they had these other zombies that barfed acid snot on the ground that slowed you down so they could get to you faster.
My older brother and I got so sick of constantly dying in that spot we just quit going there and just finished incomplete missions elsewhere in the game. Co-op is harder to play in the game but it's fun.
But my most HATED zombie type of all are RUNNERS! The ONLY type of zombie that can run after you like a Porsche and kill you with just TWO whacks. Whoever came up with that type of zombie needs to be shot just as badly as the runner zombies do. >:C
Funny comic because it's so true. XD
Your npc squad in Half Life 2 does the same thing. If you're a confined hallway and want to check the rooms for ammo crates they get in the way. If you went the wrong way up some stairs and need to turn around, they're in the way.
If you tell them to stay in one spot so you can go outside into a certain spot in the city to deal with a sniper they say "Follow Freeman", follow you anyway and get sniped when you're trying to prevent it.
It's sad because I played the original Half Life and compared their npc's the new ones. When you have a npc in Half Life follow you and you're running, it keeps up with you no problem. When you turn around, tell it to stay where it is, it listens. When you bump into it or it's in the way of something and you "speak" to it, it moves.
The ncp's in Half Like 2 don't stay where you tell them to, they're slower than sin so you lose them instantly while running and they're constantly in the way.
Pretty bad when the npc's in a game from 98 are better/smarter than the ones in a game from 04.
