Time for some super itsy bitsy teeny weenie tiny mega mega mega mega mega mega micro fun.
This was far, far, FAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAR from the first time Calex and Odin found themselves in this type of situation. The kitten was of course... ecstatic as ever. He relished in the chaos of the unexpected. Every accident was just a new chance for adventure! He wasn't the type to worry about how they'd get this fixed or get out of it... He lived in the moment and was excited to just goof around, completely assured things would eventually get back to normal... And the funny thing was... He wasn't wrong about that... But he seemed to often overlook the efforts of the people who got things back to normal.
As for Odin well... The simple fact was he had kind of gotten used to this by now. And that fact was probably more alarming than the actual thing itself. After all... He probably should have found it more concerning that he was now barely taller than a single atom... But well... Getting shrunk was nothing new at this point... And while the two didn't normally get this small every time it happened... It did happen enough for it to be considered a regular experience. Actually... The fact this was a regular experience but didn't make up the majority of the times they got shrunk was probably more alarming.... Sometimes it felt like he spent more times tiny than at his normal size. Still... He was experienced with this at this point.... And usually had things he could do... But well... When they got this small... There wasn't a whole lot to be done. At some point when things get this out of hand you just have to learn to go with the flow and have fun with the moment.
At least when he had started shrinking Odin had managed to grab a hold of Calex. The two had been standing right next to each other when the incident started... But well... A few inches in the carpet could quickly feel like it was the other side of the planet once you got small enough... Or other side of the galaxy at this point. After all, as the wolf shrunk into his clothes, disappearing beneath his hat as it fell to the ground the shrinking showed no signs of stopping. They were going to get small. And small they indeed got.
Smaller, and smaller, and smaller. He wasn't stuck buried in his own clothing long before he fell straight through the individual strands of fabric. It was like being in a giant jungle gym, bars criss crossing all over the place, except each bar was actually just a tiny single piece of woven string that made up his jacket. Holding the kititen who was even smaller by the scruff he fell between these strands as he continued to shrink smaller and smaller.... Passing by the all too familiar scenes of the microverse from individual cells, amoebas, then molecules.... And finally, atoms. Here their fall began to slow. After all, they were on the subatomic scale now, so small they were practically weightless. Odin flailed his legs trying to find something, anything to land on. Eventually his feet touched down on the nucleus of an atom. It was just wide enough for him to easily balance and stand on. He let out a small sigh of relief that he was no longer falling... as well as the shrinking had stopped.
Calex squirmed out of Odin's hand and began to babble excitedly about something. The kitten was even smaller than the wolf, as usual... And he floated in the air at this point, the gravitational pull of the atom just large enough to keep him from floating off. He was going on and on about how he never expected mixing a magical potion with a scientifically designed serum to have such a dramatic result. So... That was what had caused it. Odin had just walked in just in time to see the kitten holding a bubbling vial of liquid before it exploded... And then they were here. Par for the course really... Except... The kitten had something on him, and was offering it to the wolf. That was... Unusual. It was a tiny thing, perfectly sized for the kitten, Odin took it and held it between two fingers. It looked like a piece of cardboard? And... It opened up! It was a card, a greeting card specifically like what you might give someone on their birthday. Odin carefully opened up the card and peered at the very tiny writing inside.
Odin-
I'm sorry I shrunk us down to subuatomic levels again.
-Calex
This... Confused the wolf to say the least. Sure, this kind of thing was common enough to happen to these two! But was it really that common that they printed greeting cards for it!? And two... How did the kitten even have this card! None of their belongings had shrunk with them! After all... Odin was very naked right now after shrinking out of his clothes. The potion explosion had only effected them, nothing else. That meant the card had always been this small! But if that was the case... How had Calex even gotten it? How had he kept it on his person without losing it the entire time before this happened!! How did you print tiny cardboard cards smaller than atoms!? By all accounts it made no sense... And yet he was holding the tiny card in his hands, it was very much real. The kitten had gotten it from somewhere.
Well... He had long since learned when it came to his young partner... Sometimes it was better just to not ask questions. Trying to figure these things out usually tended to only raise more questions. For now, after squinting at the card he gently reached over and patted the tinier kitten on the head, letting him know there were no hard feelings about the accident. The kitten purred at this, floating over to Odin and nuzzling into his chest. Meanwhile the wolf just wondered how long they'd be down here... Hopefully not an entire month again this time.
