A difference inspired by a change in thinking, I imagine! I like to think it was a shift from "How much cool-looking chrome can we stick on the ends of a car before it ploughs grooves into the road?" to "Oh wait, people may want to drive this car at a significant rate of knots", though that may not strictly be true.
