Interesting trivia.
The original word for Smurf... Schtroumpf... roughly means 'Whatchamacallit'

Continuing with Gargamel's new look I figured that the Smurfs in a more modern setting would look less cutsy and more like the mutant forest gnomes they actually are.

Sharp-clawed, devious freaks of god and nature, living in hallucinogenic or poisonous mushrooms tormenting the local Hermit Wizard to the point of obsession.

On a side note, I have no idea how they keep their beltless, buttoneless, zipperless pants up unless tailor smurf invented Spandex. Hence why Generic Smurf here has a belt.
