a style with significant, consistend "flaws" in anatomy usually looks well-put-together despite this, and usually even the parts that we would normally consider "wrong" don't stand out-
i suppose the thing is "does it look good with itself"
if the answer is yes, then it's a style.
if the answer is no, then it's a mistake :3

Of course, that's a highly subjective definition. What looks good with itself to you might squick me. Who's to say which of our viewpoints are correct?
In the end, it all comes down to courtesy and manners. The person offering a critique should be respectful of the artist, but at the same time the artist must be respectful of that person - even if they maintain that it is just their "style", because where "style" and "broken" meet is such fuzzy, subjective line.

I must respectfully disagree.

That's probably one of the reasons why I keep any of my "art"-in-progress in scraps, since I'm just learning the skills in college at the moment. I mean, I know my art skills suck at the moment, but I wouldn't want any kind of troll to tell me without any kind of idea on how to get better.
A lot of people don't seem to get the difference between the two. I've seen so many people be downright insulting 'That looks weird!', or something, and then when the person is annoyed they act like it's because they don't want crit. That's not crit, it doesn't tell them what's actually wrong or how to fix it! Too many people like to be rude douches and then claim the other person is just being sensitive when they get called on it.
*POW*
"See?! See how terrible this art is?! It has taken money from me by virtue of its badness, in the form of my screen is dead now. ... Oh god... I need porn. Dammit screen! Pull through! Pull through! You were always a fighter!"
^- Why I tend not to write stuff around midnight.

And as he speaks, he cradles the battered screen in his arms, and sheds a single tear.
To budget cash for a replacement, he will eat ramen, for a whole year.
As he thinks back on the moment when his greatest friend was lost,
He realizes more and more, the greatness of the cost.
Okay, seriously, brain, are you using the creative bits of my brain as a drug lab? This is effin' weird. Also unmetrical probably.

Everywhere there's lots of piggies, living piggie lives. You can see them out for dinner, with their piggy wives, clutching forks and knives, to eat their BACON.
God bless Harrison. Also, your view on looking over how stupid people are critical is awesome. Keep up the good work. :D

Electra can get away with some of her nonsense if she established herself as a "serious artist". No I don't mean like becoming some sort of professional doodler or doodle up classy stuff or train her doodling a whole lot more, I mean just using that particular expression to refer to herself.
I win the internets for criticism. I was actually called "Everything wrong with the world of art today" for telling one person that she needed to work on some basics before moving up to anatomy, such as volume, perspective, depth...
Now, granted, I wasn't compared to Hitler. That much was disappointing.

Now you must draw a sequel to this where a person gives an artist good, thoughtful criticism, but instead they throw a giant tantrum and take it as a personal attack on their behalf.
Whereas the lesser-known artists who actually appreciate this type of thing are ignored. :x

You know what is worse than non constructive critism, contant praise. Still, this is so true, I try and go to forums such as conceptart.org to get some real advice and critism to improve myself.
Still, nice stuff, I like how you have used harsher angles on the bottom one by contrast of the softer angles on the top. Perhaps you could try and exaggerate further.

You left out positive non-constructive criticsm. I'm not talking about people who just leave short positive comments, you can't expect everyone to say something insightful. I'm talking about people who are just kissing up to someone because they're famous regardless of what the picture is.
Absolutely awesome pic. I'm not an artist myself, but I've had friends that have fallen prey to both of these. Well, I wouldn't call the first one "prey" really. It's welcomed by most folks. But the 2nd, oh yes, that one is never fun, or so I hear. Woo boy. :P
That's actually one thing that sometimes discourages me from uploading any fiction I write up, even the incompleted pieces I have. Constructive criticism is welcome, but woahshit no, #2 is not cool. *smirk* Still, once I complete an actual full story, I'll post anywho. If I ever do. Go terrible work ethic!
Funny stuff, though. +faved for both amusement and, from what I've seen on FA and from pals, truth.

I hate it when people give me constructive criticism because then I have to do more work
at least when someone says I'm dumb and ugly I know it's a lie and can just ignore it
I'd rather be insulted personally than agonize over whether Clive's arm is positioned correctly
