We have been drawing a nude female 3 times this week at school, and one of the lessons, was to draw on small post it papers, one piece of paper for one minute, every time a new pose to draw.
And the upper drawings is done with my right hand, my drawing hand.
The ones under, is done with my left hand. Every pose, one minute to draw.
I thought this was kinda cool, I didn't knew I had such a steady lefty! XD

Ah, but there is a purpose to the minute sketches, they train you to focus on the essentials first, the proportions, the layout. What good is a beautifully rendered arm if it's out of proportion to the rest of the person, or gorgeous eyes set grotesquely far apart?
This also trains you in being able to sketch from real life, instead of just posed models. A minute sketch will work as a visual 'notebook' so you can later look at it and remember the subject that inspired it, and from that sketch, you can jog your memory of 'Oh yes, the eyes were like that' and so on...
I've been practicing this during breaks at work, sitting in my car, cranking out quick sketches of that stupid owl statue on the roof, the one that is supposed to scare away birds. Every day a few more sketches, every day, a different angle, based on where i could park, and I'm still learning things about that stupid statue.
