Yeah they changed stuff the old posis use multi disk clutches inside the diff to get the limited slip using gear oil with a friction modifier to get it to work. The new ones (think subaru) are also a multidisk unit but typically use silicone as the working fluid. They can be damaged if ran outside of their limitations. Yeeeeah im a nerd :p or mad scientist - take your pick .
Fun fact from someone who had friends who loved to off road:
Two common ways of countering problems with open differentials were:
On light buggies, Meyer Manx, Tube buggies, and old Baja Bugs - Use of the steering brake on the wheel with less grip will help transfer driving torque to the good wheel with grip, helping to get you out of sticky situations.

On heavier rigs, jeeps and other 4x4:
At the very least, clutch based limited slip diffs, and of course more preferably fully locking diffs of either automatic or manually locking by compressed air, or push/pull cable, will physically tie both axle halves together across the axle, sending equal driving force to both sides, even if one wheel is in the air.

True! :D
Actually, offroads use locked differentials :) Open differentials are useful only on road usage because during a corner it allows the inner wheel to spin slower than the outer wheel... preventing understeer and tire usage! :D Apart from that, on sand, mud, or other slippery surfaces, they are useless.
I think every car of those days has a limited slip now... offroads have a lockable differential instead :)
So you can drive both on tarmac or offroad

No prob :D
The towtruck is an odd mix between a Kenworth bullnose and an old Italian engine (the 636 on the front is a little tribute to it) :D The towtruck caisson, instead, is inspired on old Foden towtrucks and ballast trucks! :D

This one is actually both a towtruck and a ballast tractor. It also has a trailer :D

I was talking about what he's insinuating about Robert. XD
Rich's not fond of picking up gigantic vehicles as shown by his snide remarks about her, so I doubt he'd want to even go after whatever she's found. :p
Though I think said vehicles might actually be of use later based on what I read on Katbox.
Honestly, I'd need to read more of the comic to know if the squirrel is right about his assumption. XD
