Continuing my tribute to the artists who performed at Woodstock for the 50th Anniversary - and I will say, drawing these instruments is kind of a pain. And capturing some of those outfits- all that fringe back then...
John Sebastian - Formerly of the Lovin' Spoonful, he wasn't even scheduled to perform, but happened to be in the audience and agreed to come on as a ringer. Not so much a reflection of his personality or song style, but he happens to have the same birthday as myself, so I decided to make him a raccoon like me.
John Fogerty - Yes, Creedence was at Woodstock. I thought he had kind of an equine face, but looking at him now he seems very different. Still, it suits CCR's music to make him a stallion.
Janis Joplin - I knew from the start Janis had to be a cat to match that classic yowl of hers.
Sly Stone - Sly, on the other hand, is a sleeker, more ferocious kind of cat. He worked himself up into a truly animal frenzy.
The Who - an odd combination of animals, but they were an odd combo as a band. That's John Entwistle as the panda, Daltrey as the lion (what else could he be?), Keith Moon, creepy little guy as he was, is the rat, and Townshend as the donkey. He also has kind of equine features, and personality-wise, I think he is kind of an ass.
