Old VIA Rail and Canadian Pacific steam generator cars. They are converted boxcars that were used to provide steam heat for passenger trains when a diesel unit without a steam generator was hauling the train, or when additional heat was needed in extremely cold conditions. They sit idle in Canadian Pacific's Brunette Yard in New Westminster, BC.

Well, you could call this a museum, I suppose.. it's an outdoor storage area for a railway historical society. These cars haven't moved in decades though. They're in the process of restoring a bunch of old CP heavyweight coaches next to them though, and I believe the idea is to use the steam generators for excursion trips hauled by new CP freight locos.
