this is from many years ago, i wrote a fanfick baised in the valdemar series by mercedes lackey, it was a contest she was holding with firebird arts she would read the stories and judge them baised on quality and originality the winner was to get a full set of her books all signed i think its been a very long time ago

anyhow the silver collar is suposed to be magic enhanced allows the child of the guardian to speak to it and her to watch over him (gets into a lot of trouble) the glasses are gold wire holding pieces of magic altered crystal so he could see (being nearly blind without them had gotten him into a lot of trouble)
