So the Duck Comics version of Fulton would likely be alive when Marshall was... and thus a new ship was born!
Marshall was used to the Gearloose's farm boy fixing things. He'd broken his pocket watch one day, and the young man approached him, offering, "I can fix that."
Fulton didn't have much official schooling, most things he'd learned self-taught or from his father Ratchet, but he was smart nonetheless. He worked hard, helping out at the Duck farm and his own family's land, his specialty lie in fixing things.
So whenever Marshall had something that was broken, Fulton would say, "I can fix that."
One day, Marshall had his heart broken. A lovely madam had looked at him, saw what status he could get her, and decided it wasn't enough. Quietly nursing his aching heart, he'd found himself approached by Fulton yet again. Leaning against a barrel, he reached out a hand and brushed away a stray tear, and murmured, "I can fix that."
