Ah, so 440 stainless that you can snap in your hands or with one good swing against almost any solid object. Don't get me wrong, you end manage to cut someone up with it as long as the edge isn't a false one. But with a length of over 18 inches, depending on your state, it would also be illegal to keep in your vehicle.
Might not be as much of an issue if the spray is more liquid than aerosol. I know some wasp pesticides do that, so it ends up being less of a spray and more of a good soaking. It comes out as a stream instead. Even so, you'd probably have a car smelling of pure capsaicin for a while. Your next fare might not appreciate that.
Trust me, even the 'stream' type will still clear an enclosed space. The OC Spray that we use in the Navy (USN, happily retired) fires in a stream and will clear a space unless sprayed directly into a bundled cloth/rag pressed against the canister, such as when we would do the 'wipe test'. The wipe test is where the OC Spray would be sprayed into a cloth then wiped onto a person's skin as a sort of pre-test for both acclimation and to test for any sort of allergic reaction. But from personal experience, believe me; if the stuff gets sprayed in an enclosed space, no matter the method or how much, no one in said enclosed space will be happy.
Superior knowledge that I would have been more than happy to have NOT personally acquired, lmao. Although, it wasn't *TOO* bad when I went through the SRF course after the OC Spray was implemented. Well, at least it wasn't too bad after I completed the course and had a bucket of ice water to dunk my head in. Baby shampoo works wonders to get that shit out of your eyes, by the way. Of course, there was an FC1 (Fire Controlman First Class Petty Officer for the non-Navy types) on my ship that wasn't affected by the stuff at all, even after he was quite literally covered in it from head to toe. But on the flip side to that, some other poor kid on my ship had to be rushed to the ER because of a HORRIBLE allergic reaction that didn't show any signs during his initial low-level exposure.
