Excerpt from the journal of Dante Heartbane, a vampire, age 12:

"Earlier tonight, one of the guys found a bag of what lighties (We call humans lighties, because they walk around in the daylight.) call "fast-food." There was something in the bag that Manny said was called a humbugger. It's a sort of package with bread wrapped around meat. Here's where the lighties start to get weird. The meat is heated until it turns brown and then they put a bunch of vegetables on it and they eat it. I'm not sure who found it, but they brought it back to the bunk right before lights out.

I don't remember who it was but somebody started throwing dares around. It all ended up with me getting dared all around to eat the humbugger. I'm not sure why, but I took the dare and I ate the thing. I'm not sure what it's gonna do to me, my body's usually on a liquid diet. It tasted okay, I guess, for burned meat and, ugh, vegetables. I'll tell you how it turns out as soon as I know."


This started out as a pencil sketch in my new sketchbook. I threw some colours at it in Photoshop.
