Merlock as Grigorij Efimovič Rasputin (Hellboy 2004)
Another fanart of Merlock.
I definitely liked the idea of him impersonating Grigorij Efimovič Rasputin from the 2004 Hellboy movie, especially with that wizard robe and mechanical glove showed in the movie!
I wanted to add a background too and I tried to be faithful to the movie, drawing this background with the Third Reich flag; actually I was a bit uneasy of adding those details but... if you want to create the right atmosphere you need to add the right deatils right?
I am not sure also witht he raining effect, hope you will like!
Merlock belongs to Disney
Note: the swastika has been added only for artistic reasons, in order to be close to the original scene of the movie.

Actually that happened in reality too, I mean not in the way that Nazi tried to summon demons to work for them but Hitler was deeply fascinated by the occult and he even accepted some suggestion from some occultist (for example he repaired some ancient castles believing that they were going to become a stronghold against a mortal danger coming from the East)
Like I said in the description I wanted to draw a background faithful to the movie and in this scene, where Rasputin opens the portal to bring Hellboy in the world, the Third Reich’s flag was visible.
That it’s why I added it, after all we have plenty of comics/videogames/movies where Nazis are portrayed and their symbols are showed.
Thanks for your appreciation of Merlock however!

Yeah, in the comics it was a really catching moment! In the movie on the other hand I enjoined when he answered back to the general threatening him about the consequences of a failure by saying "There will be no failure, general. I promised Herr Hitler a miracle... I'll deliver one!"
The fact that he referred to Hitler with a common "herr" (mister) Hitler" instead of "the Fuhrer" meant both that he was really high the Nazi hierarchy and at the same time that he had no real loyalty to the Nazis; at least that's the impression that he gave me!
