A generous and dependable defender, Isaak Valern is a considerate and conscientious young man who’s work ethic and practicality make him a diligent ally.

Born the youngest of identical septuplets boys, Isaak was never far from any reminder of family. Raised in the Catholic faith by devout, devoted parents, the sheepish silver fox knew full well that there’d always be love for him at home with a total of seven siblings. Yet, the young boy was often anxious, and such feelings of apprehension didn’t abate so much even with their move from North Platte, Nebraska to Ames, Iowa. Isaak’s father, sensing impending instability, left his position at Union-Pacific to pursue a career in civil service while Isaak’s mother, a French-Canadian anesthesiologist, later found employment with an independent private practice. Upon arriving in Ames, the silver fox soon fostered a friendship with a young cadre neighborhood kids. These included Tyson, Naomi and Jakub. Although, much like Tyson, Isaak knew that puzzle pieces were missing from this picture, and he sought to discover just whom they had each forgotten.

From the time Isaak was but a child, on occasion, he’d have vivid dreams which described a young skunk who’d long sought his return home from a purgatorial realm of an unending darkness. As he grew older, the silver fox would have recurring visions of himself spending quality time on vacation with his family and this lost yet familiar boy along the shore of Lake McConaughy in central Nebraska. Unfortunately, in the morning, that young skunk would still be lost, and each time, the silver fox lamented his inability to save what felt like a friend.

Perhaps spurred by his faith or this innate perception of an indescribable loss, Isaak acquired an interest in the supernatural. In that same vein, Jakub, too, formed his own interest in paranormal activity in the intervening years. During which, Isaak and Jakub would frequent supposed hotspots in search of ghosts, cryptids and alien spacecraft. Over the course of one such investigation, the silver fox stumbled upon a lost, secret correspondence which detailed encounters between a young witch named Haley and supposed vampire reportedly named Johan. These written letters discovered during his senior year of high school would inevitably serve as catalyst for what would come that summer when Tyson went missing for several days.

It was only through bravery and insurmountable curiosity that the silver fox contacted the assumed vampire months before Tyson’s disappearance. Not only was the man in question real, but Johan later took it upon himself to assist an associate, a registered huntsman named Wes Romero, in liberating Tyson from a monster hunter’s captivity. With Tyson free and the rest of his friends now aware of an extraordinary domain once hidden from them, Isaak wanted to pursue his interest in an official capacity. Now as an intern for Native Altars, he and his closest friends research the paranormal for the advanced technologies firm. In the end, it is through this pursuit that Isaak hopes to rescue the boy he’s long seen in his dreams.
