Depressing covers it. And, since the current plan to buy and reopen it involves getting the city to pony up $1M, I don't see that working.

Fun fact!

There are actually (thankfully) over 600 wooden roller coasters in the USA still standing and operating at various parks around the country!

I went to Joyland several times with freinds in the late 80's and had a great time. It's really heartbreaking to see that place fall apart.

Another amusement park I loved was Bells in Tulsa.. it was on the Tulsa State Fairgrounds.. and was evicted even when they were paying thier bills. Now about 1/2 the park is in storage though there are plans for a new location... the rest had to be torn down. Joyland's "Wacky Shack" was based on Bells "Phantasmagoria" ride.
