Full-detailed commission for the ever so lovely CabeBedlam ^^
I cannot express how much fun this piece was, and challenging -- being that I have never drawn either a Kobold or Pangolin. :) Typically when there are long gaps between uploads, I'm working on a full-detail. And I definitely say it's worth it.
^^ Thank you again for commissioning me.
Enjoy y'all.

Some people will tell you that fishing is best done while raining, as that's when you'll find the most and the biggest catches. Others, however, will point out that nobody wants to be out on a lake while it's dreary and raining. Noli was very much the second sort of person, and as a result it was no surprise that as he pulled up to the gravel deposited from an old, leveled out scree that the sun was bright overhead aside from the passing cloud. Gliding the car in to a shady spot underneath a pair of large pines, the kobold popped the driver's door open, swung it just slowly enough to ensure it wouldn't run into the nearby trunks, and hit the ground running only to faceplant onto the adjacent beach. Sighing as he rolled over and basked in the heat and enjoyed the soft breeze blowing from the water, he perked his head up as he noticed that his traveling companion hadn't joined him yet in this moment of relaxation.
"You coming? This stuff's as great as ever!" he patted the ground, indicating another open spot with just a hint of shade from an overhanging spruce branch.
"Well, Barb wanted me to make sure we lock the car. Anyways, I need to get the boat down!" Finally showing up from behind the SUV, the giant pangolin had already gotten ahold of the cooler they'd brought along, and was currently fussing with the knots that had attached their secondary vessel firmly in place. Seeing this, Noli just dropped his head back on the sand, squeezing his eyes shut for a moment as the particles tossed up from the impact scattered across his face.
"Pfeh... ahh, you can handle that later. The lake ain't going anywhere. Come and relax, I'm telling you."
"Hff, if you say so." Letting go of the loose, frayed end of the rope, Manny turned to the beach and started plodding over cooler in tow, before placing it down between the two of them and taking a gentle seat on a raised patch of grass nearby. He still had to shake a bit of sand away, but it was much cleaner than the beach below.
"You know that gets trapped under all these scales, right?"
"Aww, that's what the swimming's for! Oh-- yeah, heavy. Ahh, pssshh, more's for me then." Seeing as his friend won't be joining him on the sand, Noli took the opportunity to stretch further and sprawl across the little shore. As a silence started to brew between the two, they began to pick up on the sounds of the wind perturbing the surface of the water and the waves it was causing to splash against the rocks at the water's edge. Rustling leaves let through light and warmth, along with the faint scent of fresh sap and vibrant forest growth. The heat of the sun too was tempered by the water's ambient cool, mixing to a perfect summer's warmth where the two met. Even the forest creatures were out and about, and as he strained his sight Manny thought he could see a family of deer taking a drink from the far shore.
"How did you find this place the first time? The roads stopped a while back, and I've never seen other people around."
"Honestly?" an eyelid flicked open, watching the pangolin's face for a reaction. "I just wung it, I knew the mountains here had some good water features and thought I'd explore."
"Wung? But you can't fly-- ohhh, that one means not having a plan... right?" Manny frowned a little, but the grin across Noli's upside-down snout cued him in to his correct guess and caused the pangolin to crack one of his own as his confidence returned, if momentarily.
"Wait, so what if we didn't find one? A lake, I mean. Then we wouldn't have spent all this time fishing!"
"Aww, come on, we woulda found something else. We're still pals, aren't we?"
"Yeah, you're right." Rubbing a clawed hand against his arm (or down, at least, in the direction of his scales), Manny did his best to shrug off his concerns and go back to enjoying the weather. Noli gave his friend a moment, but when he could feel his hide growing hotter than the sand underneath and he could still hear the occasional huff from the pangolin he decided it was time to do something different. Standing up with yawn, he stretched out his hands and tail above his head, yearning and reaching barely as high as Manny before following it up with a pat on the aforementioned pangolin's head and a genuine smile.
"Come on, let's go fishing then. It's what we're here for."
