-has long, straight black hair that he normally keeps down, but sometimes wears in a bun

-technically supposed to wear corrective lenses for his lackluster eyesight, but often forgoes them because he hates wearing glasses

-likes to act macho, acting cooler than he might actually be; he can come off as a dick at times but hes a really nice guy once you get to know him

-special talent is speed, both in terms of physical running but also musical dexterity, particularly with the bass guitar

-originally from Tallahayseed, born to a wealthy family, was orphaned as a very young colt after his family was attacked by a giant dragon on an outing; his mother was killed while his father disappeared without a trace

-was rescued and adopted by a tribe of benevolent dragons, who raised him as their own, teaching him to fight, hunt, and eat meat; his teeth grew in sharp, gaining fangs, and his eyes developed into reptilian slits

-ran away from home at about the age of 11, eventually stumbled upon Canterlot and met Xy, who quickly befriended him

-he never learned to speak, communicating only by grunts and growls, his mane was immensely long and unkempt, and he acted essentially like a feral dragon

-Xy taught him to speak and how to be more like a pony again

-taught himself how to play drums as he got a little older, as a way of venting the stress, frustration and abandonment issues as a child

-when he and xy were a little older, they formed their own punk/rock band, with velocity playing drums

-the lack of discipline and the rebelliousness inside him caused him to start getting involved with a bad crowd later as a teen, and vel became involved in drugs

-he soon enough became a pretty hardcore drug addict, using it as an escape from his depression of never knowing his true purpose in life, never remembering his parents well enough

-he and xy soon had a big falling-out due to vel's instability and drug problems; xy tried to help as best he could, but vel would never listen to him, and would just drive him away

-eventually goes into rehab after several failed interventions from xyclone, the final one succeeding and being very emotional for the two

-gets cleaned up finally, cutting his hair short and adopted a new outlook on life

-he and xy reform their band and recruit more members to make it a full group; vel now plays bass guitar and co-lead vocals along with xyclone for his hard rock/metal band 'Krunch'

-along with xy, also joins a jazz band formed by another friend of his, as the bassist

-despite getting sober, vel still smokes cigarettes, though he'd like to quit; he took up vaping as a method for quitting, though he still smokes the occasional cigarette, as well as the occasional marijuana joint
