Subject: Dragon and Pheonix on lantern
Materia Artistica: freehanded brushpen and watercolours on rice paper lantern.
Reffernces: none
Notes: Yay the pheonix! isn't it wonderful. :) a nicely stylized one i think i am very pround of this lantern overall. this is a closer shot of the pheonix and you may see some nice blending of the watercolours courtesy a very hot and humid day. rice paper picks up humidity like a teleevnagelist picks up underage hookers and pageboys

Phoenix's and dragons have always been some of my favourite subjects. any pictures of the hot rod project? I know i have alwasy wanted to paint one on a car with the pheonix spread over the hood of the car and a lot of awesome tail feathers trailing back along the sides and over the car itself with doing some really nice peacock style ones ending on the rear lights with those as the eyes of the feathers. and with all the kick ass new car jewlery like the LED stuff and Fibre Optic stuff i could do an even better job now!
We're moving down to Denver, this small town stuff just doesn't suit us. It's about 250 miles from here, since odds are there's only three of us to do the actual moving... not to mention we'll need a place to stash the cars until the houses are set up on the land. An apartment will likely allow us to have one car per person... now all we need is a place to keep the Camaro, 68 Chevy truck, 48 Chevy Truck, and 1929 Dodge. Though, come to think of it, if we already OWN the land we might be able to put them on the property if we can trust the custruction workers.
Man, to have a shop to work in... get that sezzy 68 Chevy done, that robust 48 Chevy done, that classy 29 Dodge done, and that mean-ass Camaro done...

Yeah, down in Denver is where all my old and some new friends are. Like Kenny, who has been an inspiration. Just over a year ago the dude (Apache, I think. Almost if not full blooded) went to the ren fair and fell off a cliff, was in a coma, nerve damage, you name it. (He's an artist on DA, too. His girlfriend is a friend as well)
Also in Denver there is the remnants of an old stime street racing tradition. When it was just a bunch of guys going out to the middle of nowhere and racing for nothing more than "Shits and giggles". No bad blood, only friendly rivalries, and always someone willing to tow you home if you break. Most of it these days is all trash talk, money, and gunplay with these gang banger wannabes.
By the way, you may appreciate Marie's art style. Check out her website, there's a couple in Commissions she did for me. You'll know them when ya see 'em! Not unlike us, life hasn't been terribly kind to her and Kenny. They're completely different people than we are but at the same time I think we'd all still fit together.

I'm not sure how he felloff, I think it had something to do with a waterfall he was trying to get closer to, I've always been shy of bringing it up. But he's okay now aside from learning to cope with the nerve damage. That's what I admire so much because he's such a good guy, after something like that I don't know if I'd come out of it with such a bright outlook on life. He went back to the ren fair this year to thank the people who helped him.
Awesome. Yeah i think i would not have been as happy with more nerve damage than i already have. it is weird having places on your body that feel nothing but pressure and tingly. not even cold or hot or pain but just pressure and tingly. especially wierd when the pinched nerve gains life for a few hours every once in a while and suddenly full sensation from a dead zone is there
Yeah, most of my nerve damage is the kind you don't notice until you do something that's supposed to hurt. "Oh yeah, I'm burned. Uh, oh yeah. OW!"
And don't throw your stuff out! You have a very nice and classic style of art, it kind of reminds me of old timey Japanese illustrations ages ago.
hehehehe
when i see amazing art i feel like my own art dirties the world somehow. it is a lot of leftover bad programing and a deep seeded feeling of being dirty and horrid because i was poor and stuff and never was as nice as the other kids and people would always make a huge fuss when i was a kid and got the slightest bit dirty. so i have kind of a complexe where when my self esteem plummets either i or my artwork or other stuff suddenly become filthy and embrarasing to me. to this day because of things my parents did to me as a kid i can barely walk through a department store. generally if you get me in one i will walk across the place as fast as possible without running or drawing attention and not stop for anything til i am out the other side . i am working on it to get over it but this one is so deep and reinforced it is going to take a LONG LONG time to get rid of. hell i am still convinced that rich people or well off people can smell the poor on me.

I am the same way in a lot of ways. Especially the self esteem bit. I'm not sure where it stems exactly, but I know I feel the same way. If I am writing and read even the shortest story that has such skill and charsma I literally can't do it even if others tell me they like my style.
Another thing from my childhood is while I love martial arts, I can't go into a martial arts dojo without starting a fight. It's almost a hobby to embarrass the sensei by beating him in sparring in front of his students. It comes from having one sensei super strict and then suddenly having this guy who is the most amazing martial artist I have ever seen help me out.
I know I'm screwed up, so... I RUN WITH IT! heh.
