In Bubastis and other sites, hundreds of thousands of mummified cats were laid to rest. Knowing how cats hate to have their rest disturbed, the consequences of curiosity would likely be dire. The undead kitty was insipred by an actual cat mummy, and the background is based on an 18th dynasty cat-scarcophagus... with my own lap-commando's name in the cartouche.
