For all the stress it took to get all those entries done for Road to Sol on dA earlier this year, it sure helped me refine this kind of "painterly" shading technique. That's not to say it's flawless or can't be improved, but it's definitely helped me feel more confident about my lined work and that I can still make nice detailed pieces without them being fully lineless "paintings", which is a pretty liberating feeling tbh haha. It takes longer than the cell shading I used to primarily use but I think the result is better.
