Gift art for a friend that operates The Pines Homeless Outreach Project. This amazing woman (and her pup) donates so much of her time every single day to deliver hot meals, food boxes, and supplies (i.e. baby diapers, tarps, etc.) to the homeless people in her community. When I was in La Pine, OR, she brought me blankets, coats, and shoes to keep me warm and dry during the winter. She cooperates with the community kitchen and pantry, and through her efforts, really makes a difference in the lives of many. Unfortunately, she has been sabotaged by someone calling the health department on her project and being threatened with arrest. I have seen countless stories in the news of people being punished for helping the homeless and hungry, but this hits close to home. Food safety is important, but the reason she cannot continue to help the less fortunate is simply because she does not have a facility besides her own home.
