Taking a Brisk Walk
I hadn't touched watercolors in a long time and decided to break out a $5 set I bought yesterday to see if I still have the knack. You can see the results for yourself in this little watercolor sketch.
It's actually chilly in Florida these days, and the daily walks I take are rather brisk. But I enjoy them immensely as it's an excuse to get some sunshine, see the sights, and stretch my legs. Today was particularly pleasant so I decided to commemorate it via the image you see here. I actually own a blue leather jacket. It was part of a Rose Tyler costume I made for Halloween a couple of years back.
Sketch transferred to Bristol board via light table, then painted up and enhanced just a tad in photoshop.

After watching my wife doing several watercolor projects that took DAYS to complete (the kitchen table was unusable for a few days while she was working on them), I have a lot of respect for an artist who can do so well as this with water colors.
I've never done anything more than just pencil work with real media--I guess I'm such a techno-geek that using Photoshop and a WACOM tablet just feels much more "right" to me.

Thank you :)
I'm still nowhere at the skill level as I'd like, but sometimes I like to return to the medium just for fun. I think it helps that I've always liked softer and more subtle shading. Different mediums often serve the person's particular art methods and likes.
One of these days I'll try acrylics. I'm terrified of them ;)
