Still not buying it. There's no clear reason for Elim to be transforming into anything (and in fact the existence of the "Elim is a Yinglet now" AU comic is strong evidence AGAINST that happening in comic canon proper), and no way given what we've been told already he could have hidden something like "actually a chick" from Kas.
In that center reaction shot, I'm imagining that dolly zoom shot from jaws when the protagonist first sees the shark attack from the beach.
You know the one, where the character is held stead in the shot, while the background pulls away.
Think also Simba from the 1994 Lion King when he first sees the wilderbeasts.

YOU DICK! You scared me so badly! Just for that, I'm going out, finding an inflatable hammer, blowing it up, just so I can beat you with it! XD
Thank you so much for not killing Elim off! Though I don't think even the horrible communication skills deserve a yinglet snot-rag to the face. Ew...

Yay! Time to find out whether yinglet snot is poisonous!
I personally think surgeon's speech is a little overdone (it's hard to believe he would spend so much time saying sorry before actually reporting result of operation, especially given his previous insistence on being to the point) but I suppose you couldn't resist after toying with us for the last month.
Also: if after saying how sorry he is he said it would take months before the patient could be placed on active duty it means that he expects that patient could be placed on active duty in the end. Unless Ivenmoth has some unusual standards that means surgeon expects Elim to make a full recovery or nearly so, which is in turn much better than I would expect from the Earth Renaissance medicine.
P.S. It's not often that I catch a comic so soon after publishing so let me use this opportunity to say your comic is probably the best comedic webcomic I am reading and I am deeply impressed by your storytelling in general.

Given that guards do not earn money for the house, so I still believe it was overdone. A missing worker means less productivity but security (and a some other services, for examlpe couriers/boys) is usually sufficiently redundant to allow them to function while under full strength.
Still love your comics though.

Elim is going to be ok but Kass will need a replacement body guard at least for a while, someone no offence to Elim less shankable, luckily I think both Isher and Yannit to a lesser extent would be fine replacements for several reasons.
1. They are both quite strong and tough
2. They are both surprisingly gentle and nice.
3. They are people that can be trusted to not be a double agent of sorts.
4. It would give us the audience an excuse to have the Yinglets react to them.

This whole arc was an awesome example of storytelling. Even an old writer like me was riveted, and genuinely believed, for a bit, that you'd killed Elim off. Killing a main character is something never done lightly, but I'd have accepted it. He made his heroic sacrifice.
That he got to live after all was just a bonus, and a big one.
And none of it felt cheap or manipulative. It was a ripping good yarn, ending with a side-busting bit of laughter because yinglet!Kass is just crazy awesome.
And so are you.

I did spend a lot of time making sure this arc wouldn't feel contrived, forced or cheaply done, so glad it seems to have come off that way!
Then again, with as long as i takes to tell the arcs of this story, I'd better be using the time inbetween pages to work things out properly, yanno?

This feels like a little bit of a letdown after all the suspense buildup (especially with the "complication", though I'm sure that'll be adressed further), but on the other hand "yay Elim lives" :P
This is probably the best way to handle this to keep the light-hearted overall mood of the comic I guess?
And huh... I hope that ying-snot isn't too toxic :V

And here I hoped Kass would place an order for a custom built light crossbow ( To compensate for yinglet limbs), get a brand new edgy black trench coat, acquire a whole range of combat related items from poisoned bolts to molotov cocktails, and go all out renegade evil batman on everyone after Elim’s death. Like; finds Brakka alive, ambushes him from the back shooting him through the spine - lifting her hood, “Does that hurt? Good.” IDK man, a part of me wanted shit to go down. Instead we’ll get more touchy feely lol.
Welp. I have stayed up 2 hours to read this comic in its entirety (so far), and I am extremely excited to see more! The story is very interesting and has a great deal of depth to it. I especially like the information pages so that I'm not left in the dark about every detail about the species as a whole! Very amazing work, and I am looking forward to reading the next page very much!
(Sorry for being so wordy, I am typing off the top of my head here, since it is nearly 1:30 in the morning. Keep up the amazing work!)

When I read "...I'm Sorry..." it hit me, and I felt shock and sadness. The "realization" panel where Kass is processing the death mirrored my own feeling of the realization of my mom dying in April as I held her hand. I suddenly felt this massive empathy and pain for Kass.
Then the bait and switch at the end of this page. That was kind of lame. I don't hate Elim or anything, the character is great. But I thought this would have been a visceral pathos for the comic.
Ultimately I understand you wanting to keep the tone of a humor based comic lighthearted, but I doubt there would be a dry reader's eye in the audience if you had.

After seeing this, it does make me think of 'if my 'sona (as a yinglet) was in this' scenario(s).
But... nothing has been laid out w/ him as of yet in the sense of a story.
Only thing would be 'rumors' about a wandering yinglet that's strong as (insert strongest creature in this world) and can do 'unnatural' things.

Excellent bait-and-switch; I felt a pit in my stomach just like I imagine Kass did. The head surgeon has to realize that leading with "I did all I could" sets certain... expectations for the information to follow? Though he's probably detached to the point where it doesn't occur to him that Kass could have an interest in Elim beyond utility. Or maybe he's just channeling the doctor from Arrested Development. XD
And now I'm wondering if Yinglets can cry like humans.

I feel like the picture of human Kass behind yinglet Kass was representative of something.
Maybe Kasses identity as a human relies greatly on his relationship with his long time companion and friend.
Maybe with the thought of him being dead, he was mentally loosing the last vestiges of his identity as a human? Hhmmmmm....
It a stretch but, maybe.

That's word of mouth. It's one of the best ways and oldest ways of getting something out to the masses.
Having discovered your yinglets I now imagine these two as yinglets.

YOU FEKKING SCAV BITCH! I hate you! I HATE YOU! I HATE YOU! I HATE YOU! In fact, you suck!
Oh, but wait. I was only being sarcastic. I didn't actually mean what you thought I meant. Do ya see? Do ya understand the complex feels I'm feeling right now? First, you're like, "What? But why?" Then, you're like, "Aw, you!"
Oh, I was so ready, man. I was skeptical about Elim's fate, but I was ready to accept his potential impending death. But you had to twist my arm while simultaneously tickle my funny bone. Only now do I realize that Elim's injury was just a setup for that wonderfully perfect gag at the end there. It's definitely one of your best. Though, I can certainly see you pissing a lot of people off with this one, like it's a "it was all a dream" plot twist.
Speculations for the future of the story I'll put on hold for now. Perhaps one day I'll do a review of my overall thoughts of what's done of the comic so far. Although, my comments are probably review enough. It's been a pleasure reading thus far and am glad to have had the opportunity to do so; I eagerly, but patiently, await what else you have in store for your comic and appreciate the effort you put in into making that happen. Thank you, Val. Sincerely.
But, wowie! What a place to get caught up at (at least it wasn't one page earlier). I guess that about does it for Every Night Readings, or does it? I still have that Lusty Argonian Maid story of yours to read even though I already have, but I'll do it again because it's fun. 😁

I almost can't believe I'm caught up. It's been such a long journey getting here, but I feel like it was the right way to go. When you pick up a novel, you don't just read 600+ pages in one sitting; you take your time.
But I'm on the same page as everyone else now, so, as you said, the waitening commences.

Okay I rarely commented on this comic -shame on me I know- but I am with her/him in the Fek You! Well done on making us think he was gone for just that split moment, to feel that dark spot settle in before the... 'lovely' doctor speaks the reality. Well done I will say, well done indeed and please keep up the epic story telling!
Hello, I created this account to tell you that this comic made me happy. I love feelings; you represent great feelings, incredibly well. Also, the setting feels very real, as real as it is exceptionally interesting. While reading your work, I got to experience it. You are an absolute rockstar. Thank you.
