I think his greatest literary taletn was to provide an overwhelming sense of fear of something he never actually fully described. Most of his creatures, he'd give a few good details, and then describe the madness and panic it invoked, letting the reader's imaginations fill in the gaps. I still love reading his stories, and it inspires me, though a bit differently than some.
Gorgeous portrait, love the 'texture' on the background.
It evokes the aura of his writings whilst showing the true man himself, unembellished by such perceptions of what might lay behind his eyes.
I also am a fan of his work and live a mere ten minutes from his gravesite.
