I really wanted to draw something emotional with these two.

We only get to see Shrek be completely emotionally vulnerable in Shrek Forever After when he's holding Felicia's doll and he cries. So I got to brainstorming and thought this up.

In my headcanon, the women of Fiona's family on both sides were plagued with ill fortune when it came to having children. Birth defects, miscarriages, you name it, it happened. Fiona found her family's medical records in the library while searching for parenting books, and the news of what she likely had to look forward to utterly crushed her. Shrek found her sobbing in the library, and when she told him what she found, his heart broke. He'd been terrified of parenthood, but to have what they both realized could be their only chance destroyed by this news was so much worse.

Shrek accepts his lot and resorts to any means necessary to help Fiona through this, all the while worrying that he'd lose Fiona, their baby, or both.
