Boston had a similar problem years ago. I remember watching the evening news magazine Chronicle on WCVB Channel 5. They were interviewing a resident with two fierce Schipperke dogs who said, (heavy Boston accent) "Look at the hahdweah on this one!" (pulls back the dog's upper lip to display a set of choppers that would make a Great White back up). The other dog started going berserk on her leash, barking at a cat-sized rat scampering across the square -- in broad daylight!

The thing is every large city has rats. it's because they have lived along side us humans for decades.

True. But you don't normally see them running around outside in daylight. And in any event, there are not supposed to be large piles of uncollected garbage around for them to take an interest in...

but there are in many big cities not just Baltimore.

Rats in NYC rarely show up during the day, in my experience, with the significant exception of the subway tracks, where you'll see cat-sized ones waddling near the third rail. Garbage-laden areas are one of the big vectors for rat-breeding. Think Pizza Rat, only 30x.

Centuries, even.

cities don't have a rat problem, they have a human problem. that's why they're called cities.

the western hemisphere has a rat problem, they call themselves 'white' but more logically euro-americans.

yes i know, most of my ancestors came from that direction too.

but at any rate, the hatred of logic is not a biological imperative, it is a choice.

and ideology is just one of the several excuses made up for it.
