As soon as I saw this, I knew who they were <3 Rask and Egg eeee It's so cute, I love Oren's Forge so much.

I suspected that was a badger from the jawline. I didn't connect it to Oren's Forge, though.

The art in Owen’s Forge is beautiful and I like the characters, but the world just doesn’t work. Making the animals sapient so the preds have to eat thinking creatures leads directly to either slavery of the prey or extinction of the preds. If,some sort of accord is reached so the preds don’t eat the prey, as in Zootopia, you end up with catastrophic overpopulation of the prey species or harsh, probably religion based population control which won’t be fun to read about. The root problem is that the prey HAS to be fast breeding, fast maturing to support the predators and in the absence of predation you get runaway population, starvation and disease.

That's fair, although I would argue that prey sapient enough to band together and forge weapons, sould be smart enough to control their own populations to the point that they DON'T end up in world-ending over-population scenarios.

Then again, I'm a human being and we all see how well that is going, so what the hell do I know XD

The problem is solvable with enough technology but,they don’t have that tech and won’t for a very long time. The most likely scenario once the prey develop even primitive weapons is total extinction of the preds due to a huge numerical disparity, followed by said catastrophic overpopulation. The Malthusian model really does apply in this case.

I was more referring to them mating less, hence resulting in more controllable numbers of offspring, but if the number of kits we see in the comic is any indication, prey species apparently birth far fewer young than they do regularily.

In the end though, we're talking about magical, talking animal people, who walk on two legs X3

Who are the sole food source for predators, and therefore have to breed and mature fast. Otherwise the preds would have eaten them all and starved long since. This is the problem with anthropomorphizing animals and leaving their predator/prey behavior in place. If the prey took many years to mature as humans do, there would not be enough to feed the preds.
