[UNFINISHED] The End Of My World
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xHa6a3FtPJg
I'm doing a dump of scraps because I feel it's time they're put up at this point before they just never end up up ever lol. These have been available to my Patrons forever up until now.
I drew this right around the time Fallout 4 came out. I took a liking to one of the included songs "End of the World" (oh the irony Bethesda so witty!) by Skeeter Davis and I found that whenever that'd come on as I wandered the wastes rather then feel bad about the condition of the world so much, I'd more feel bad for all the deserted Corvega cars littered around the wasteland. Left to sit, still powered evidently, rusting away, possibly witnessing their families and owners blown away by nuclear fire, left their forever tortured with nothing to look forward to but the possibility of some random raider fight to set off their reactor and blow them up putting them out of their misery.
Anyway it got me thinking about real life classic vehicles that are left out sitting to waste away, the idea to this picture then came.. the idea being to set it to that song... the lyrics being what's going through the poor truck's 'head' as she's forced to sit there for years, her owner's loved faded as she's left basically as lawn decoration on some farm.. that being what the random blob in the background is.. the edge of the fence and the farm house back in the distance.
I'll go ahead and link to the song for the 5 people who probably haven't heard it because they haven't played FO4. ^^^^

I choose to think the vehicles themselves are no longer actively powered (as wiring as such would decay much easier and faster than the steel frames) and the reason they eventually detonate when impacted is, well, after two centuries of neglect and exposure to the (often toxic and/or irradiated) elements, whatever protective shielding possessed by the reactor had degraded in effectiveness and stability to where even a minor disruption with cause a containment breach.
They're not immobilized and forced to remain staring off into nothing and waiting for death, they passed away in relative peace long ago and all our efforts disturb is a long-deserted husk.

lol admittedly, I've not played Fallout 4, but even still, you've done an absolutely fantastic job on this one! I really love how well you've captured the shapes in the poor derelict truck! That's one things I really enjoy about the Fallout and 50s style cars! They have such unique and prominent shapes that just become more and more subtle in subsequent decades. That round bulbous front, the curve at the door, the way the hood fits down into the wider engine compartment, all of this comes together and just makes a wonderfully visually interesting design! I've been saving this in my inbox since you uploaded it, because I knew it deserved a comment as well as a fave. I really think you did great with this!
A lack of time and an abundance of other obligations lol. My workload is absolutely maxed out, but lol it's funny you should reply to me when you did. I was just getting ready to send you a note. I still will with a few updates I think YOU'LL be interested in!
lol and Of course I am! I love the classics and I enjoy projects!
