The title comes from this particular version of cicada being part of the dog-day cicada group. Named such due to their emergence during the dog days of summer. Unfortunately, the bugger had just emerged so the final color pattern has not come in. I also did not wish to disturb it for a full examination of any identifiers, so no specifics can be provided as to exact classification. Tibicen spp. is all you guys are getting. Based on the exact time of year it emerged I will speculate tibicen figurata, but that's as far as I'm going.
