Background About Rei and His Parents and Siblings:
He lived with his Mother, Lin. His father, Liu Zhou, works overseas so he never really sees him much. He had to become very independent at a young age, even when the time when he had an older brother, Liu Ze-Long, Who was when Rei was in elementary school, Long was in high school and become a prominent and well-known High School Baseball player. Rei was inspired by his Brother's love for baseball as well and wanted to be just like him. He would emulate everything that his brother did in Baseball and was proud of him. Everything seemed well for those years, that is until Rei was about to start middle school and Long was about to become a Senior. His Mother couldn't make it to seeing his Son's Baseball game with another high school due to work, Rei was able to come though. After the Baseball game, Rei and Long were gonna celebrate his team's victory, as they were crossing the street on a busy intersection and getting the crossing light, Rei had dropped something on the street and went to get it back. Long saw an incoming speeding car and Jumped to push Rei out of the way. Next thing that Rei saw was his brother's body flying. The rest is history..... Rei blames himself for his Brother's death. In order to make amends to his dead brother is that to acheive what his brother wanted to become, the Best Baseball Player in history. And so, with the bat as a memento of his late brother, he set his goals out towards the Pokemon Combat Academy, knowing that they were a well-known academy with one of the best teams around the Region. No one will stop from what he's set out to do.

Extra Facts: He seemed to have made a rivalry with Kotaro's younger brother, Motochika. So, you can see the two of them bickering over why each of their sport is the best. Also, He doesn't allow anyone touching his Brother's bat too.
