At some point in the story, she meets a Djinni. Well, more accurately, she begins searching for one. And Djinni are known for their ability to modify their size. To appear fierce and intimidating, they like to appear as giants, something Catt was unaware of.

The Djinni listens to her story of how Flickie was captured by the Thanorian army protecting her, and opts to join her to help him. With his powerful magic, she felt much safer and more optimistic about the endeavor. So long as she doesn't make a true wish, the Djinni won't vanish. At the end of their journey, Catt does make a wish to set him free from her side, and it is a hard goodbye for them.

When a Djinni is discovered, they're "bound" to the one who summoned them until a wish is made. If the one who summoned them makes no wish, they're forced to stay by them until they do. This Djinni is named Y'Tu.
