This is my Smeargle pokesuit, the first one I made. It didn't get much recognition, since it's not the most popular pokemon, but it's one of my favorites and so I made it. The head was BEAST and the only way to really wear it was with the neck piece (one thick piece of foam). It was like Hell to wear. Way too warm, with all the insulation points HIGHLY insulated.
The people who did recognize it seemed to like it though. =)
After the con I wore it to (ConnectiCon 2008) some friends and I went into Burgerking (cuz they had Pokemon toys) and I got free food for making the night of the employees at 12 am. =P

Well honestly, I've only seen two Smeargle gijinkas online and they were pretty bland. But the whole point is that it's an artist pokemon, and so I don't understand why they didn't spice them up and make them artsy!
All you have to do is throw a few interesting design features into the concept and it will be good. Make it interesting, even if it isn't entirely exact.
My advice: open up a window in Photoshop and just design like crazy. Make it kind of avant garde. Try doing what the Final Fantasy people do and just make unecessary things that look cool.
Gijinkas have such opportunity. The only thing holding you back from making something amazing is a lack of effort. =)

Unfortunatly the fact is it's my FIRST attempt at a gijinka... and cosplay as a whole for that matter... >.< So I'm kinda having to go bland out of being a novice... but I WOULD like your opinion on what I have so far... when I get the pics up would you mind if I linked them to you?
